Danial Hajipour

Danial Hajipour, 23 years old, a psychology student born on August 6, 2003, was killed by direct gunfire to the head during protests on January 8, 2026, in Qazvin, University Street. Danial's family found his body after a week of searching. However, according to relatives, during the process of handing over the body, the family was pressured and threatened and told that in order to receive the body, they had to introduce Danial as a "Basiji." According to his friends: "Danial was not a Basiji. He was a freedom advocate." Based on legal principles, the use of force by officers must be proportionate, necessary, and within the framework of the law. Severely beating a person who does not pose an immediate threat is an example of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment. Also, according to the Criminal Procedure Code in Iran and the principles of citizenship rights, the arrest of individuals must be carried out with respect for human dignity and without the use of unnecessary violence, and the use of any unnecessary violence by officers is considered a criminal act.
